First, thanks for making the MuvExToE plugins/add-ons and offering them as you have.

I would like to suggest an IE add-on providing similar functionality to FireFox's "Plain Text Links" (and others):

(Plain Text Links home page)

The purpose of the add-on should be self-explanatory, but for those unfamiliar, it is a quick and handy way to open a URL not formatted as a link. For instance, to open the following text URL:

Code:
http://www.muvenum.com

...it would have to be selected, copied and pasted to the Location toolbar, followed by a click on the 'Go' button (for versions of IE <= 6) or a press of the ENTER key.

Hope this is useful.

Best Regards,
Beltway

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll definitely take a look into it as soon as we get some time for freeware projects. We're currently finishing up a new product and website which should be ready soon.

I've looked into this and it should be very easy to do. I should have the extension ready within a week.

Thank you,

I have a 1.0.0.0 quickly-thrown-together-version that includes basic functionality. It has support for navigating to the url in the current tab, opening a new tab or opening a new window.

It currently doesn't try to do any cleanup of the urls or search on selected text that isn't a URL but that can be added in a future version. Let me know how it works for you.

Thanks,

Thanks very much!

I hope others find this as useful as I will. Can't wait to test the release.

Best Regards,

I've updated the link above as it was incorrect the first time. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Open Selected Text URL works very well! I've tested pretty extensively for a couple weeks and haven't seen any errors or crashes.

The only thing I noticed is that "open URL in new tab" shows up in IE6 also. Not much of a bug report, but that's a good thing...

Thanks very much again for this useful add-on!

Best Regards,

Yeah, I guess I could try to detect which version of IE they are running and only add the context menus that apply. Maybe when I get some "free" time.

Glad to see it's working out well for you.
