I would like to convert wma files for use with my ipod. Wma straight to mp3 souds logical, but would wma 160k to wma 160k then to AAC be the better option for itunes???? Something just doesn't sound right with the converted mp3's

What do you mean by this exactly? Are you hearing a "trial" sound in the audio?

If so, and you are a registered user, you would need to install the full version of VAC from your purchase email.

I would recommend a 192kbps MP3 for the best quality. Higher is better but it requires more space.

Thanks,

The sound is off the s's are a bit harsh and the mid range is kinda muddy. Not horrendous, just noticible. If I go wma 160k, which is the original file rate to 160k wma and then import into itunes which will convert to AAC, is this the best way to save quality?

That would probably be the best way as your are recording to the same quality that the original file was in.

Thanks,

I use MP3 192 for my iPod Nano and they sound 'great' as far as 192 goes...

But, don't quote me on this but I think I get better battery life from unprotected AAC compared to unprotected MP3...
