Hello together,

after converting a file to wma or mp3 there is and entry added to the comment field of the new file. it looks like this:

{34F54GD-D734-9367-84D5-BD48D75MDKD7}

What kind of code is this?

The same code is added to every file created,...
I don´t really like the idea that this code can be used to track back where the file came from.

best regards

Moongate

The ID that you are seeing is actually an ID that Windows Media Player gives to each item. It is only used by WMP to identify a file for the database that WMP stores the files. Basically, it stores this as a replacement for the actual file location so that it can associate playcount, playlist settings, etc. to a file no matter where it is moved on your computer. It was initially added as a tag by MuvAudio for debugging purposes if problems arised while beta testing the software, so we could see if it was pulling the correct tag information for the correct file. It was just never removed. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will remove it in the next version of MuvAudio.

In the meantime, you can use any mass tag editor to clear this tag field.

Thanks again,

For all who are concerned about this topic and don´t want to waste their time searching for a good mass renamer I can suggest the following tool to do the job:

MP3tag:

http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html

It is free and good

Don´t let yourself get confused with the name. It can also edit WMA and a lot of other files

Best regards

Dear Renzka,

I installed version 1.4 at once when it came available to get rid of this problem. But against your words nothing was changed in the new version.
The ID is still added as a tag and you told us it will be removed in 1.4..

I really thought this was a promise.

I´m very disappointed.

Moongate,

We missed it in the initial release, but thanks to your quick response, it has been added to v1.4. Please redownload www.muvaudio.com/muvaudiov14.exe to get the updated executable. We decided to make the quick change and replace the executable rather than releasing a new version because of the time since the delay being so minimal. The correct version for 1.4 is 1.4.2220.33954 for those of you that want to verify you have the correct version. This is the only change made: "The removal of the comment tag".

Thanks again Moongate,
